About Me
James M. Carey, Managing Attorney
I am a Texas attorney with over 25 years of experience in the legal field, including more than a decade as a licensed attorney, in addition to my over 10 year career as a paralegal. I am a native Houstonian with deep Texas roots, and I have built my practice around serving individuals and businesses across the state in real estate, business, estate planning and civil matters.

My background includes experience in Big Law at a top Am Law firm, as well as in-house work with a national telecommunications infrastructure company. That range of experience provides a practical understanding of how legal issues arise, how they are evaluated, and how they are resolved. Today, I bring that perspective to my solo practice, where I focus on delivering clear, results-driven solutions.

I believe in working hard for my clients and helping them solve real problems. Every matter is different, and I approach each one with focus, discipline, and a commitment to finding the right path forward. Clients can expect direct communication, honest advice, and a steady, strategic approach from start to finish.

I am a graduate of South Texas College of Law Houston and have been licensed to practice law in Texas since 2012. I am active in the legal community, including service with the Houston Bar Association and as a mediator with the Harris County Dispute Resolution Center. I am also a member of the Texas Bar College and several local and state bar associations.

Roots as Deep as Texas
In 1823, my ancestors came to Texas as part of the legendary “Old 300”—the original settlers brought here by Stephen F. Austin under Spanish land grants, before Texas was even a state. They traveled more than 1,000 miles by covered wagon with all their worldly possessions for the opportunity to own land on the new frontier. The journey was long and uncertain, and the perils were real—but so was the chance to build something of their own and lay roots in what would become the Lone Star State.

Many Texans today carry that same courageous spirit of 1823, and it shows up in different ways—starting a business, investing in property, entering into contracts, or facing disputes head-on when the outcome is uncertain. These decisions still require confidence and a willingness to move forward despite risk.

Much like that early trail to Texas, today’s modern world is often treacherous and full of obstacles. And like those early settlers who forged into the unknown together, you don’t have to face the challenge alone.
I represent clients all across Texas in real estate, business, estate planning and civil matters, taking a practical, results-driven approach to guide my clients through legal challenges with confidence, helping them move forward and reach their destination.
